Community Organizer in Reading
Juana Mora is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic. She migrated to the United States in 2009. Before organizing with Make the Road PA, she worked for Human Resources at various locations most of her life. She started working with MRPA after she was engaged in the community by other members. Juana helped lead 123 local businesses in Reading shut down on May Day 2017 for a massive strike and mobilization to the capitol. Juana was so energized by the work that she decided to pursue community activism with MRPA and became a community organizer. Juana’s passion is worker justice, immigration and shutting down the Berks Detention Center located in her backyard.
