Maegan Llerena

Executive Director

Maegan LLerena is the child of immigrants from Peru who along with her parents had to move from NYC because of the ongoing housing crisis. She has a bachelor’s in social work and intended to pursue a career in clinical social work before being recruited for MRPA. Maegan started with the organization as an intern then organizer before becoming the director of the organization. Maegan has overseen remarkable growth in Pennsylvania, where Make the Road PA has become a progressive powerhouse. She founded the Allentown Organizing Center in 2017 and helped expand to Northeast Philadelphia in 2018. Under Maegan’s leadership, MRPA has helped elect the first Latinx mayor of any major city in Pennsylvania along with other progressive leaders. In 2020, en route to ensuring that Joe Biden won Pennsylvania, with our sister organization, Make the Road Action PA, Maegan and her team completed the largest program targeting Latinx voters in PA. The team completed over 2.2 million calls and more than 1.5 million text messages in 66 out of the 67 counties in the state.
